Open Question: Will TNA ever legitimately compete with the WWE?

TNA has a large fan base, and a growing, and very talented roster. But WWE has 3 shows, the largest fan base of any wrestling company, and arguably some of the biggest names to ever step into the ring. Keeping in mind that a couple of years back TNA was some small company fighting out of gyms, and now they have a 2 hour HD program (on WWE's former network), and names like Sting, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, etc. to support their company, in a few years do you see TNA and WWE competing like WWF and WCW did back in the glory days? Please keep your answers better than "TNA SUCKS!!!1!1!" or, "WWE SUCKS!1!!!" (yes, I threw the 1's in there on purpose.. as that's usually the typing skills of those who say it) more

Well, Pittsburgh fans, we did it. We pushed the Red Wings all the way to the final game of the season AND series. It's do or die for Sidney Crosby and the Pens when they go back to Detroit. We did get shut out in Game 5, but can the coaching of Dan Bylsma help the team to dismantle the defending Stanley Cup champion Red Wings? It's not going to be easy to win in Detroit. The Joe is a wild powerhouse when it comes to hockey, with intimidating fans wearing their Red and White, and some powerful noise. Well, this won't stop Crosby from facing Sweden's greatest players such as Nicklas Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg, and Johan Franzen because like all Penguins fans, I want to see Crosby get that Cup. I mean look at the racism and homophobia of soccer. Open Question: Why do people get so uptight Mike Tyson vs. Muhammad Ali hypothetical fight?

If you bring up the hypothetical fight of Ali vs. Tyson, in their primes, those who favor Ali get all uptight and almost offended as though the 2 fighters are in different galaxies and not comprable in any way. I think its a perfectly legitimate question to ask if a 20 year old Mike Tyson would beat a 24 or 25 year old Ali. I could actually argue that Mike had faster punching speed and his ability to move early on was also underestimated. That speed combined with power was lethal. However I know all you Ali homers out there will argue that Mike fought when they divsion was full of bums. I counter this argument by pointing out that Tyson never allowed anyone to even think about rising to his level from 1985-1989. Ali got put on the canvas by Henry Cooper in his prime (1966). In the 1970s, Ali had 30 professional fights and 16 of those went to a decision and he lost 3 of those decisions. In other words, he relied on landing more jabs than his opponent and even this failed 3 times. Joe Frasier and Ken Norton would have nowhere near the acclaim they get today if they hadn't beaten Ali. However, people use Frazier, Ali, and Foreman as proof that the 1970s was the high point of the heavyweight division. If Ali had been unbeaten against Frazier, Norton, and Spinks, people would have attributed this to the heavyweight divsion being garbage, just like they say about the 1980s HWs. However, he lost to these 3 once and therefore popular opinion claims this was due to the competition being tougher. I want to point out an important distinction in this argument. Asking "Who is the greater fighter, Tyson or Ali?" This is one question. This is NOT the same as saying, "Taking each fighter at the moment in time when their boxing abilities were at their peak, who would win in a hypothetical fight between Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali?" Tyson can't rank near Ali in list of the GREATEST fighters. Tyson obviously lacked the heart, stamina, and overall longevity of Ali. In fact, Tyson isn't in the TOP 10 in my opinion. However I do believe Tyson at 20 would beat Ali (at any age) in a fight. Ali beat Frazier twice but Frazier lacked the punching speed and ability to bob and weave that Tyson possessed. And please dont even try to compare Tyson to that pathetic Sonny Liston who took a dive against Ali. In the end, noone will ever know for sure who would win, but if an American up-and-coming fighter comes along to bring excitement to the heavyweight division, he will be more in the mold of a Tyson. Winning the majority of fights by decisions nowadays won't capture the short attention span of America. I think the next kid dynamite is out there, and hopefully he won't have all the personal issues to keep him from reaching his potential. What are your opinions? more
